Our Success

The goal of the IZone is to move students from the bottom 5% to the top 25% in five years. We focus all of our efforts on that single goal. Since the IZone’s inception in 2012, we’ve had great successes in reaching that goal to drastically improving student achievement in low-performing schools:

The IZone is committed to building on the many successes achieved since its inception in 2012.

  • 7 of 18 initial schools have earned their way off of the State’s Priority list.
  • ALL schools have had positive gains since joining the IZone.
  • More than 2/3 of schools have had double-digit gains.

Our Impact

The IZone’s impact reaches across the city of Memphis and some of the city’s most under-wealth communities currently serving an estimated 9,500 students. With a strategic focus on strengthening feeder patterns, we focused on transitioning into the IZone the neediest priority elementary and middle schools, especially those that fed into middle or high schools that could best support those students’ continued growth. Our focus is strengthening the K-12 continuum so students who start with us in PreK or Kindergarten will receive the additional support to ensure their achievement throughout their K-12 experience.

There are twenty-three IZone schools within feeder patterns located in Frayser, North Memphis, South Memphis & Southwest Memphis.
